Ohio's first lesbian and gay marching and concert band is here, and it's here to stay! Help us to share our special gift with others. To find out how to join, call Ben at 621-2387, or Toni at 721-5736. Although we would like to get as many instrumentalists as we possibly can, we are especially in need of percussionists (drummers), woodwinds and a conductor to conduct the music for the band. Brass players (trumpets, trombones, baritones and tuba/sousaphone players) are also more than needed and welcome. We are also in need of volunteers to set up a Rainbow Flag twirling unit. Maybe you can't play a musical instrument but would like to support us. Send your donations to our mailing address at the Lesbian-Gay Community Service Center:
The North Coast Freedom Band c/o The Center
1418 W. 29th Street Cleveland, Ohio 44113
Your donation will go to purchase music, musical instruments and equipment (such as uniforms, flags, drum heads/sticks). Or if you would like to purchase instruments for us directly, we are in desperate need of marching snare drums (3), a marching bass drum and a pair of marching cymbals. If you wish to donate these or other musical instruments, call the numbers listed above. These will go to those who cannot get their own. Join the bandwagon and help out, you'll be glad you did.

It all began on June, 27, 1987, when 30 lesbian and gay bodybuilders stepped onto the stage of Mission High School in San Francisco to thunderous applause from a thousand spectators for Physique '87. These athletes came from all over the United States competing in the first ever National Gay Bodybuilding Championships. Twelve months later the tradition continued with even more firsts: Physique '88 introduced, for the first time, same-sex pairs competition; and athletes traveled from not only the United States, but from Canada and Peru.
